Biography
Tom Gaddes is a Jazz trumpeter based in London. Born in Bury, Greater Manchester he began his musical journey playing the piano before eventually taking up the trumpet. Over his childhood he played in a variety of classical ensembles ranging from brass bands to orchestras including being principal trumpet of the Hallé youth orchestra. At age 17 he earned himself a role playing lead trumpet with the Greater Manchester police big band, a role in which he kept up until his relocation to London.
At the age of 18 Tom moved to London to pursue a career in Jazz at Trinity Laban conservatoire for music and dance. Whilst studying Tom has received teaching and mentorship from a wide variety of successful jazz musicians including: Julian Joseph, Hans Koller, Byron Wallen, Steve Williamson and Rachael Cohen. Tom also has a unique thirst for knowledge which has led to him constantly seeking out tutoring from musicians in the USA such as Jeremy Pelt.
Whilst doing his studies at Trinity Laban, Tom has made sure to learn to play a variety of jazz music, ranging from smaller ensembles to your classic big band and more, having played with musicians such as Mark Armstrong and Enrico Tomasso.
